PATRIOTIC FRONT MUST ACT ON VIOLENCE – BIGOCA

By NOEL IYOMBWA

THE Patriotic Front leadership should act on the violence that characterised the welcoming of Dr Chishimba Kambwili on Saturday, Bible Gospel Church in Africa (BIGOCA) Bishop Peter Ndhlovu has demanded.

Bishop Ndhlovu said in an interview that political violence should not be condoned in political parties.

He said political violence has the potential to cause anarchy in the country hence it should not be condoned at all cost.

Bishop Ndhlovu wondered why cadres from the same political party engaged in a fight when they were supposed to set as an example to other political parties.

He recalled that President Edgar Lungu mentioned that there was no room for violence in the ruling party, hence cadres should restrain from violence.

“What will the ruling party tell others when they are fighting among themselves.  Fighting is not the way to go, children of God are not supposed to be fighting,” he said.

He said the violence that occurred when the PF was welcoming Dr Kambwili should be condemned by the leadership of the party.

Confusion characterised the welcoming of Dr Kambwili at the PF secretariat when cadres clashed and a police officer was injured in the process while a police motor vehicle was smashed.

The fight started when Innocent Kalimanshi, a self-proclaimed PF national commander forced his way into the secretariat after Dr Kambwili entered the premises by ramming his vehicle into the gate and in the process hit two people.

Mr Kalimanshi was beaten and was only rescued by PF Lusaka Province chairperson Kennedy Kamba.
