K50M FOR CB ROADS RELEASED

By ROGERS KALERO

ABOUT K50 million has been released for the rehabilitation of roads including Central, Mindolo and Chibuluma roads in Kitwe which are in a deplorable state.

The Daily Nation in Kitwe learnt that the treasury has released the funds for the rehabilitation of the various roads on the Copperbelt and was only awaiting for the official announcement by the National Roads Funds Agency (NRFA).

“Yes, i can say that the funds have been released . It’s actually the treasury which has released the funds and not the NRFA. However, you can’t quote me.  Wait for the NRFA to make an official announcement on this development “ said the source who refused to be quoted But when contacted, Kitwe Town Clerk Mbulo Seke said he was only aware that Kitwe District Commissioner Chileshe Bweupe was in Lusaka to pursue money for Central Street, Mindolo and Chibuluma roads.

Mr Seke said, apart from the money for rehabilitation of Central Street, Mindolo and Chibuluma roads, Mr Bweupe was also in Lusaka to request for money from the NRFA to repair damaged roads in Kitwe

“I really can’t confirm about the figure, the K50 million you are taking about, but what I can say is that the DC is in Lusaka to push for funds to rehabilitate funds for Kitwe. One is them is to request for the release of funds for road rehabilitation from the NRFA,” Mr Seke said  Central Street joining Mindolo Road up to the Chibuluma Road junction is one stretch which is in a deplorable state and needs urgent rehabilitation works

Apart from Chubuluma Road, Independence Avenue has some bad patches which need urgent rehabilitation works.
