KALIMANSHI, OTHERS GET BAIL

PATRIOTIC Front (PF) supporter Innocent Kalimanshi and his co-accused persons have been granted K10, 000 cash bail each in the case they are charged with criminal trespass and occasioning actual bodily.

Kalimanshi, 40, a business executive of house number D50 in Salama Park, Lusaka, is jointly charged with Donald Kampamba, 46, another business executive of Kabana, James Sakala, 43, a politician of Matero Township, and Samuel Kabalamwe, 42, of Chawama compound.

They are part of nine PF supporters who appeared in the Lusaka Magistrates’ Court following last Saturday’s fracas at the ruling party’s Secretariat when former National Democratic Congress (NDC) president Chishimba Kambwili went to rejoin the PF.

Magistrate Felix Kaoma granted the four accused persons the bail after they denied charges slapped on them. Particulars of offence in the first count are that on May 1, 2021, Kalimanshi, Kampamba, Sakala, and Kabalamwe jointly and whilst acting together unlawfully entered the PF Secretariat premises with intent to annoy.

In count two Kalimanshi is charged with assaulting Theresa Sampa thereby ocassioning her actual bodily harm on the same date. Further, in the third Kalimanshi is accused of assaulting Helen Mwansa thereby ocassioning her actual bodily harm in the same brawl. In another court, five other PF supporters pled not guilty to one count of maliciously damaging Kalimanshi’s Ford Ranger worth K700,000.

Before Magistrate Faides Hamaundu were Bright Musonda, 38, a business executive, Keithward Musonda, 45, Kelvin Chisanga, a youth treasurer, Gift Lupiya, 34, a politician, and Nectir Sinyangwe, a youth chairperson. Particulars of offence are that all the five accused persons on May 1, 2021, willfully and unlawfully damaged the motor vehicle. They have been granted K5,000 cash bail each. The case comes up on May 24, 2021 for trial. After court proceedings, Kalimanshi’s faction chanted pro President Lungu slogans.
