DOUBLE-TONGUED MOONGA QUITS UPND

By OLIVER SAMBOKO

MAZABUKA Member of Parliament Garry Nkombo’s competitor in the UPND adoption race, Kizzy Moonga has officially ditched the party citing non appreciation and undemocratic tendencies in the opposition party.

The embattled Moonga was initially adopted by the PF to contest the Mazabuka Central seat but later abandoned after denying during a press briefing ever applying for adoption on the ruling party’s ticket, maintaining that he belonged to the UPND.

The PF has since adopted Southern Province Minister Dr Edify Hamukale to contest on its ticket.

Addressing the media at his home in Mazabuka, Mr Moonga said he was now available to work with any political party that will see value in him, saying despite him contributing to the opposition party, the UPND does not appreciate his efforts.

Mr Moonga apologised to President Edgar Lungu, PF Secretary General Davis Mwila and the entire leadership for the embarrassment he caused them by denying that he applied for adoption by the PF.

He said the UPND leadership has not appreciated him for mobilising the party ahead of the August 12, general election and was aware that the opposition party has already adopted his rival, Gary Nkomba, the incumbent MP.

Mr Moonga said UPND spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa who earlier challenged him to resign from the party, was not being sincere considering that he has contributed a lot to the opposition party.
