IT is very likely the United Party for National Development (UPND) burnt their billboard so that they blame the Patriotic Front, PF media director Antonio Mwanza has said.
Mr Mwanza said that the opposition is desperate and will use any means to justify their impending loss so that they claim that there was electoral malpractice during campaigns.
He said that the party has realised that the elections will be peaceful hence they want to create confusion.
Mr Mwanza said the ruling PF is confident that the elections will be peaceful and credible and that it is the commitment the party has made to the people.
“UPND is very desperate so as a party we suspect they burnt the billboard so that it looks like it is the PF to justify their impending loss in the coming elections,” Mr Mwanza said.
UPND Presidential candidate billboard has been burnt a day after it was mounted near the Heroes Stadium along Kabwe road.
Mr Hakainde Hichilema, the UPND president has however blamed political opponents but advised members not to retaliate.
“This is the kind of lawlessness and primitiveness we have to root out in this country. We urge our party supporters not to retaliate,” Mr Hichilema wrote on his Facebook page.
