‘TOP-4 STILL OUR AIM’

By MICHAEL MIYOBA
DESPITE languishing in the relegation zone of the MTN Super League with six games to go before the new champion is declared Napsa Stars coach Mohammed Fathi is still optimistic for a top-four finish.

Speaking after Nkana whitewashed his side 4-1 at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe on Wednesday, Fathi said the league is still open with Napsa capable of bouncing back from the worst defeat of the season to finish in the top four.

Fathi said the pensioners were unfortunate to lose to Nkana because they were frustrated by referee Milton Mwamba who he accused of awarding Nkana a fake goal.

Fathi said the poor officiating oppressed Napsa players who lost focus in the second half of the game where they allowed three goals.

He noted that there is need for the pensioners to keep pushing and work on recovery before facing Green Eagles and Kabwe Warriors in the next two fixtures.

“We still have a chance to finish among the top-four because this league is very open.

“We ain’t bad. From the last seven games, we have won four games and lost three so from 21 points we picked 12 and now what we need is to keep pushing.

We have Green Eagles and Kabwe Warriors in our next games so we have to stay focused. We’ll forget about the defeat to Nkana and look forward to the next games,” Fathi said.

And Fathi has apologised to referee Milton Mwamba who he accused to have allowed Nkana to score an offside goal.

Fathi said after watching the replay on television, the goal was indeed a clear goal.

Meanwhile, Nkana coach Beston Chambeshi has noted that Wednesday’s victory has rejuvenated the Kitwe giants as they fight to avoid relegation.

Chambeshi said Nkana, who moved one step up on the relegation zone would bypass any team which will go to sleep to survive relegation.

Nkana are 16th on the Super League table with 31 points, six points away from the relegation zone.
