‘ACC is moribund’ FAILED TO STOP GRAFT DURING ADOPTION PROCESSES

By PETER SICHALI

THE Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) is moribund as evidenced by its failure to arrest and prosecute those that were involved in corruption in the just ended adoption process, Zambia Jubilee Coalition (ZJC) Secretary General Kwaela Mwanza has said.

He said it was unfortunate that ACC had not arrested anyone for corrupt practices despite having overwhelming evidence.

Mr Mwanza said the just ended adoption processes were marred with corruption.

“It is unfortunate that despite having reports of corruption during the just ended adoption processes no one has been prosecuted or arrested,” Mr Mwanza said.

He said the ACC should be proactive and ensure that all cases of corruption were investigated and prosecuted.

Meanwhile, Mr Mwanza said relevant authorities should take asset declaration seriously as it could play a big role in promoting accountability.

Mr Mwanza said it was important for those aspiring for political offices to be honest when declaring their assets.

He said it was unfortunate that some politicians have in the past under declared their assets.
