FIGHT FOR SURVIVAL

By MICHAERL MIYOBA

AFTER humiliating Napsa Stars with a 4-1 beating on Wednesday, defending MTN Super League champions Nkana’s quest to survive the relegation battle will face another tough test when they host Prison Leopards in a rescheduled Week 24 fixture at Nkana Stadium in Kitwe.

With Nkana having lost the reverse fixture 2-0 at President Stadium in Kabwe, today’s match presents the Kitwe giants the chance to revenge their loss.

Led by Beston Chambeshi, who inspired his charges to beat rivals Power Dynamos and Zesco United before the big win over Napsa  Stars, the Kitwe giants are the favourites going into today’s game as they seek to avoid any slip up to avoid the drop.

“We are going to use the pace of a tortoise and a team which is going to sleep, we will jump them. We are trying our best to move slowly and see how we are going to end the league. We are aiming high,” Chambeshi said after beating Wednesday’s victory.

The former Kansnshi Dynamos coach will pray that former Power Dynamos striker Alex Ngonga and the likes of Diamond Chikwekwe will come to the party to inspire the Kitwe giants to another important win.

Meanwhile, after beating Lumwana Radiants 1-0 in their last fixture, Prison Leopards fight for maximum points knowing that defeat to Nkana may confine them into the relegation zone.

In the other League fixtures, Napsa will be on a mission to bounce back from their humiliating 4-1 loss to Nkana when they take on rejuvenated Green Eagles in an early kick off at Sunset Stadium in Lusaka.

Napsa Stars will be seeking maximum points as they also fight to survive relegation and achieve a top four finish.

“We need to encourage the players. We know our weaknesses and we know our problems and we will resolve them in our next games,” Fathi said ahead of today’s clash with Green Eagles who are coming from humiliating Indeni 3-0 on Wednesday.

In the second fixture of the double header at Sunset Stadium, Chris Kaunda who was celebrating his birthday yesterday, will guide Zanaco as they host relegation-bound Kitwe United who have only won two games in the Super League after 30 rounds of matches played.

Tomorrow, MTN Super League action continues with Green Buffaloes hosting Power Dynamos at Nkoloma Stadium, the same venue for the Lusaka Dynamos and Zesco United clash.

It is another tough test for the Ndola outfit who are aiming to bounce back from two consecutive defeats to Nkana and Power Dynamos.
