CHURCH LEADER CAUTIONS SANGWA

By KETRA KALUNGA

STATE Counsel John Sangwa should tread carefully his refusal to accept the Constitutional Court ruling on the eligibility of President Edgar Lungu or he risks losing his integrity as a lawyer, a  church leader has said.

Bible Gospel Church in Africa (BIGOCA) overseer archbishop Dr Peter Ndhlovu said Mr. Sangwa should show respect for the court’s ruling on matters if he is to maintain his reputation as an honourable lawyer.

Dr Ndhlovu said in an interview that if Mr. Sangwa continues to challenge the ruling of the ConCourt despite all his petitions being quashed, he risked losing his business as people would start questioning his character as a lawyer.

He said as a learned lawyer, Mr. Sangwa should know that it’s wrong to continue misleading the nation and taking advantage of Zambians who do not understand the law.

“This to me seems like Mr Sangwa has a personal vendetta against President Lungu because despite his petitions being thrown out of court due to lack of merit, he has continued appealing the matter,” he said.

Dr Ndhlovu has urged the Law Association of Zambia to take interest in lawyers like Mr Sangwa whose interest in the eligibility matter seems to be personal and not in the interest of the general public.

“Mr Sangwa has gone out to misguide this country and his lack of respect for the court would make him lose his integrity because people are watching him,” he said.
