PERSEVERE, ARCHBISHOP BANDA TELLS CHRISTIANS

By KETRA KALUNGA

CHRISTIANS must persevere in everything they do because they will be misunderstood, Archbishop of Lusaka, Reverend Dr Alick Banda has advised.

And Archbishop Banda urged citizens not to be loudmouthed, cantankerous and to avoid maligning others to avoid bringing persecutions upon themselves.

“Christians have brought persecution on themselves because they have chosen to be obnoxious, despicable and offensive to others,” said the archbishop.

He said Christians must persevere in everything they do because they would be misunderstood.

Archbishop Banda said Christians should be quick to hear but slow to speak as they should listen more but talk less.

He was speaking during a homily for the Sunday Pentecost yesterday.

The Bishop is the only mainline church leader who has questioned the circumstances under which the Hatembo siblings were missing.

He urged people to continually avoid the temptation to fight back by not being harsh and vindictive.

Archbishop Banda said life was fulfilled with choices but that every choice had its consequences.

He said in the political realm, those who were vocal about their favourite candidates would have people that would disagree with their choice.

In the workplace, he said life of integrity passes over for promotion, in senior years, those who invest in the church miss out on various memories and on material things.

Archbishop Banda also emphasised the need for unity of purpose for the country to overcome the many challenges that might come its way.

“We need each other’s strength to combat world systems on account of the faith in Christ,” he said.
