KANGANJA GUIDES PARTIES ON RALLIES

By KALOBWE BWALYA

ALL political parties intending to hold rallies or public gatherings should seek certification from public health inspectors before notifying the police on their intended activity, Inspector General of Police, Kakoma Kanganja has said.

Mr Kanganja said approval of any public gathering by Zambia Police would be dependent on certification and compliance with health guidelines indicated on Public Health certificates obtained from relevant authorities.

Mr Kanganja was speaking when he checked on the progress of the recruits at Geoffrey Mukuma training school yesterday.

He said that failure to comply with such guidelines in instances of a public gathering, shall lead to cancellation of such a gathering.

“This is in view of political activities which are expected to heighten owing to the fact that we are in a campaign period,” Mr Kanganja said.

He said the guidelines were already in existence and that police were only re-emphasising them.

Mr Kanganjsa said every individual or grouping was advised to keep the guard by adhering to public health guidelines as stated by the Ministry of Health.
