By KALOBWE BWALYA

THE Road transport and safety agency (RTSA) has directed Zambia Motor Sport Association (ZMSA) to suspend all spinning and drifting motor sport events until safety standards are improved.

Meanwhile, police spokesperson, Esther Katongo, has confirmed the death of one person while two others sustained serious injuries in a fatal accident at the National Sports Development Centre in Lusaka on Saturday.

RTSA head – Public Relations Frederick Mubanga, regretted that a male spectator was killed after the driver taking part in spinning and drifting motor sport event lost control of the vehicle and ploughed into a group of spectators.

Mr Mubanga said a number of other spectators were also injured in the accident which involved a Toyota Altezza driven by Nason Kapambala at NASDEC on Saturday.

RTSA has thus directed ZMSA to suspend all spinning and drifting motor sport events until safety standards were improved to avoid such accidents in future.
