BURGLAR HACKS CHINGOLA COUPLE

By ROGERS KALERO

A COUPLE and a toddler in Chingola yesterday suffered serious head injuries when a criminal broke into their house and hacked them repeatedly.

The three family members have been admitted to Nchanga North Hospital after an identified person stormed into their house armed with an axe with which he attacked them.

Mr Bright Chand,a aged 33, his wife Beatrice, 30 and their baby, Eunice aged two years, sustained serious injuries when the lone attacker attacked them in their house in the early hours of yesterday.

In 2019, similar attacks occurred in Chingola when criminals attacked several houses hacking families, without stealing anything.

Copperbelt Commissioner of Police, Elias Chushi, confirmed the incident and added that police will not rest until they track down the criminal.

Mr Chushi said officers were investigating that matter and was confident that the criminal would be apprehended.

“The victims sustained serious head injuries and currently admitted to Nchanga North Hospital. Police in Chingola have since launched a manhunt for this criminal and will not rest until he is cornered,’’ Mr Chushi said.
