THE Kasama Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a 25-year-old man to two years imprisonment with hard labour for stealing a television set.
He pleaded guilty to burglary and theft.
In this matter, Michael Mulenga, broke into the house of Catherine Mulenga and stole a television set valued at K5,400 on May 27, this year.
Mulenga pleaded guilty to the offence when it came up for plea before Magistrate Joe Samboko.
In mitigation, Mulenga who is a second offender pleaded before the court to exercise maximum leniency.
Meanwhile, Mr Samboko sentenced Rodgers Chishimba 27, of Brown area of Chiba village to one year imprisonment with hard labour for escaping from Milima Correctional Facility.
Chishimba escaped from the facility on 17 October 2016 while working at a farm together with other inmates but was apprehended in Mpika where he was spotted on May 18, this year.
