CHINA TO PROVIDE US$28.8 M TOWARDS ZAMBIA’S DEBT RELIEF

Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Li Jie has announced that his country will this year provide Zambia a grant amounting to us$28.8 million towards the country’s debt repayment.

Speaking to journalists in Lusaka, the Chinese envoy to Zambia said his country has continued engaging with the Zambian government on how well they can arrange the bilateral financial debt situation for the country, a gesture he said is appreciated by his government

And ambassador Li says his country will not hesitate to continue working with Zambia in an effort to find a solution to the recovery of the economy.

He further said the Chinese government is encouraged with the commitment from the Zambian government to treat all creditors equally.

Meanwhile,  the Chinese government has provided 100,000 doses of Sinopharm covid-19 vaccines to Zambia.

Speaking at a press briefing shortly after he toured construction works of the new Mulungushi International Centre, Chinese Ambassador to Zambia Li Jie confirmed the development in Lusaka.

Mr Lie said the vaccines were recently approved by the World Health Organization (WHO) and are expected to be in the country in the next few weeks.
