CHRISTOPHER KATONGO GETS FAZ APPOINTMENT

FORMER Chipolopolo captain Christopher Katongo has been appointed a member of the National Team Technical Sub-Committee.

The 2012 Africa Cup of Nations winning skipper joins a six-member team that will be chaired by FAZ Northern Province chairperson Mwansa Kapyanga with FAZ Western Province chairperson David Simwinga appointed vice chairperson.

Former national team coach Fred Mwila, Kabwe Youth Soccer Academy proprietor Mwansa Mutangama, Colonel Banda and a ZAFCA representative complete the list.

The Youth Football Sub-Committee will be led by FAZ Muchinga Province chairperson Collins Mukwala, Kabaso Kapambwe (Vice chairperson) with Lusaka Province youth representative Danny Katongo, North-Western Province youth representative Brian Sakulenga, Emmanuel Chingende, John Chirwa and Lusaka Province women’s representative Belinda Chisanga completing the membership.

FAZ women’s representative Colonel Priscilla Katoba will chair the Women Football Sub-Committee, FAZ Northern Province women’s representative Beauty Namwawa (Vice chairperson) while North-Western Province women representative Josephine Chaile, Nelly Miamba and FAZ Eastern Province women’s representative Lillian Vegeer will be members.

All the three sub-committees feed into the Football Development Committee that will be chaired by FAZ president Andrew Kamanga while deputy secretary to the Cabinet Patrick Kangwa is the vice chairperson.

The six members are Col Katoba, Kapyanga, Kafue Celtic proprietor Lee Kawanu, Mukwala, Ndola-based administrator Andre Mtine and a ZAFCA representative.

Kephas Katongo has been appointed chairperson of the newly constituted Premier League and Competitions Committee and will be deputised by FAZ vice president, Justin Mumba.

Konkola Mine Police chairperson Gideon Mwenya has also been incorporated in the 10-member team, which also has Gilbert Tembo, FAZ Eastern Province chairperson Crispin Kamuna, Central Province women’s representative Joyce Mwandila and Zanaco Football Club general secretary Isaac Manda.

The rest are Zambia Environmental Management Agency Director General John Msimuko, Red Arrows official Kambani Lungu and marketing expert Kenneth Sinkamba.

A number of Standing Committees have been revised, and include the Finance Committee which will be chaired by FAZ Lusaka Province chairperson Jordan Maliti who will be deputised by Power Dynamos chairperson Bbenkele Hachitwe. The other members are Joel Nkhata, Eugene Phiri, Brian Musonda and Vinody Mudenda. The Referees Committee has Luapula Province chairperson Hans Mweemba (chairperson), the referees representative as the vice chairperson and members who include Northern Province vice chairperson Lackson Daka, Mulowa Sichumba, Frank Chitambala, Alex Mambwe and a referee’s representative.

Lawyer Lombe Mbalashi will chair the Players’ Status Committee while Copperbelt Province vice chairperson Patrick Ndhlovu will be the vice in the six-member committee which also has William Phiri, Siyasai Sikaswe, Steven Bwalya and Ngulube.

Dr Joseph Mulenga will head the Medical Committee to be deputised by FAZ Southern Province chairperson Francis Hafwiti.

The members are Zambia Medical Association Secretary General Dr Masiku Phiri, Dr Kevin Zimba, Dr Kelvin Sinkala, Dr Chishimba and Dr Gabriel Mpundu.

The Futsal and Beach Soccer Committee will be led by FAZ Central Province chairperson Chisanga Pule while his North-Western counterpart Arthur Kamulosu will be the vice chairperson.

The members are PK Sports Academy proprietor Patrick Kasoka, Mabvuto Banda, Nathan Pemba, FAZ Copperbelt Province vice chairperson Gabriel Kaunda and Kalwiji Kasehela. -FAZ
