IMITATION DEPT OFFICES CONSTRUCTION NEAR COMPLETION

CONSTRUCTION of Immigration department offices near the Cathedral of Child Jesus in Lusaka are  nearing complexion.

Home Affairs permanent secretary Masiye Banda

 has since expressed gratitude that the project which is being carried out by China Jiangsul construction company will complete within the stipulated time .

Speaking when he conducted a tour to check on the works, Mr Banda said 90 percent of works have  since been done, with only a few attachments are remaining.

He said government is impressed with the kind of the work that has so far  been done,  adding that the offices will be in a modernized standard.

He however disclosed that the project which was signed in 2010, will cost K27  million and half of the payment has since been  made.

He said government will ensure that it gives maximum support so that the men in uniform can start operating in their new offices.

Mr Banda thanked President Edgar Lungu for considering Home Affairs by ensuring that they have decent offices.

Meanwhile, Director General Migration department Danny Lungu  said once the building was completed, it will accommodate about 150 officers..

Dr Lungu disclosed that the immigration officers have not had decent offices apart from squatting, in other departments.

He commended the officers for remaining committed to serving the Zambian people with quality work despite facing  challenges such as lack of office space across the country.

And  Ministry of Infrastructure and Housing Project manager , Muchinka Kamboyi said works are expected to fully complete in the next two months.
