ADHERE TO COVID-19 RULES, PF URGED

By JACKSON MAPAPAYI

PATRIOTIC Front (PF) members in the North-western province have been implored to strictly adhere to health guidelines in order to avoid the spread of Covid19.

North-western province PF provincial chairperson, Jackson Kungo, said the pandemic was deadly hence the need to observe the health guidelines.

Mr Kungo said in Solwezi at the weekend that those that were disregarding health guidelines did not have the interest of the people a heart.

He was speaking when he addressed a joint meeting of the constituency and district executive committees in Mushindamo.

“Ours is to follow the directive by the Electoral Commission of Zambia because as a ruling party we need to lead by example,” Mr Kungo said.

Meanwhile, Mr Kungo, who is also Solwezi Central parliamentary candidates, expressed confidence that the PF would scoop parliamentary seats in the August 12 polls.

He said this was because the party had done its ground work in terms of penetrating the region and that all adopted candidates were credible and saleable at both ward and parliamentary levels.

“The Solwezi Chingola road which was one of the biggest cries for the people in the province has been completed and soon it will be expanded to a dual carriageway.  We have seen upgrading of primary schools into secondary schools, health facilities being built,” Mr Kungo said.

He urged party members to however not relent but continue making more branches and recruiting more new members.

And Solwezi East parliamentary candidate Richard Taima said he would not downplay any other candidate in the race but do everything to win the seat.

Mr Taima assured Mr Kungo that his team was working tirelessly in ensuring that it delivers the seat to the ruling party.
