INSPECTOR General of Police Kakoma Kanganja has directed police officers at roadblocks and checkpoints to enhance mandatory checking of Covid-19 adherence for all transporters.
“Police Command is henceforth directing all police officers at roadblocks and check points to collaborate and work closely with officers from councils to undertake mandatory checking for Covid-19 compliance,” Mr Kanganja said.
He directed police officers to work closely with officers from the Ministry of Local Government in carrying out mandatory checking for Covid-19 compliance at manned roadblocks and check points.
Mr Kanganja said police officers at checkpoints should also be in position to hand out facemasks to the public.
“This should be part of the sensitisation campaign that should hinge on DMMU resource mobilisation and distribution for effective operations” he said.
