ENGLISH Premier League outfit Leicester City would be a perfect destination for Patson Daka, Zambia Sports Fans Association (ZASPOFA) patron Peter Makembo has said.
Daka could be close to sealing a move to Leicester City from RB Salzburg of Austria.
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Daka who had attracted interests from a number of clubs in the EPL has agreed a contract until 2026 with Leicester City who are scheduled to make the announcement of the player’s signing in due course.
In an interview Makembo said Daka’s move to Leicester City would be perfect for his career development.
“My interest is for the player to go someone where he will be able to enjoy game time because we all know that for a young player like Daka, playing is key for a player to achieve continuous progress.
“There were reports that he would join Liverpool which wouldn’t have been a wise move for me because despite Daka being a determined young star that he is, competing for a starting position with players who have already established themselves at the club would be challenging him but at Leicester City he will be able to compete and develop as an individual,” Makembo said.
He noted that Daka is too disciplined to fail in the English Premier League where only two Zambians have attempted to compete in the recent past.
Former Chipolopolo steiker Collins Mbesuma made some features for Portsmouth before Emmanuel Mayuka moved to Southampton.
However, with Leicester City yet to confirm Daka’s signing, it is yet to be seen where the former Nchanga Rangers and Power Dynamos striker will play his football after impressing at Red Bull Salzburg where he scored 27 goals in 28 league games last season.
Daka was recently omitted from Zambia’s squad which travelled to West Africa for friendly matches against Senegal, Benin and Sudan because he is sorting out his future.
European champions Chelsea, Arsenal, West Ham United and Liverpool are all said to be interested in Daka who is seen as the next big striker in Europe after he scored 34 goals in all competitions for Red Bull Salzburg last season.
