KALOMO VILLAGERS CRY FOR CLEAN WATER

By ANDREW MUKOMA

SOME residents of Kalomo’s Siamutete village in Sipatunyana Chiefdom have bemoaned lack of access to reliable and safe drinking water for both human and animal consumption.

Jailos Siachinji said that the water problem had been the source of concern for many years among villagers and appealed to Government to intervene.

He was speaking in an interview with the Daily Nation in Kalomo, Southern province. Mr Siachinji said the community only depended on few boreholes that cater for a heavily populated area and added that they had resorted to walk long distances to nearby streams.

The said that the situation had also created a water shortage for their livestock to drink water.

He appealed to Government and cooperating partners to construct a dam and sink more boreholes in the area.
