KALOMO TRADERS APPEAL FOR HAND SANITISERS

By ANDREW MUKOMA

TRADERS at Kalomo Town Market have appealed to well-wishers and the business to help them with hand washing facilities and sanitisers to avert the spreading of the Covid-19 in the district.

Market chairperson, Lavert Namangoma, observed that the trading place did not have sufficient hand washing facilities for both traders and customers.

In an interview he said lack of handwashing facilities at the market exposed traders more to contracting the virus.

Mr Namangoma explained that the basins that were donated to the market by aspiring candidate for Kalomo Central Constituency Edgar Siakachoma and a businessman Smart Muwele had been damaged; hence the need for assistance from stakeholders.

He added that as market chairperson, he had embarked on sensitizing traders on the dangers of the disease and the importance of washing hands and following all the health guidelines.

Mr Namangoma also called on the Ministry of Health and Kalomo District Council to strictly enforce Covid-19 preventive measures such as masking up.

He noted that Kalomo has recorded escalating cases during the third wave compared to the first and second one.
