‘NCZ SHOULD PRIORITISE LOCAL YOUTHS FOR JOBS’

By MUKWIMA CHILALA

THERE is need to prioritize local youths in Kafue for employment and business opportunities at the recapitalized Nitrogen Chemicals of Zambia (NCZ), the Patriotic Front (PF) has said.

Government last week announced the injection of K 600 million in the operations of NCZ.

PF Lusaka Province chairman, Kennedy Kamba, said the recapitalization of the NCZ was indication of his party’s commitment to job creation in the district.

Mr Kamba noted that there was need to prioritize the young people of Kafue when it comes to jobs and business opportunities at NCZ.

He said that the injection of capital in the company meant that they would soon be need for human resource and that priority must be given to the locals so as to reduce unemployment in the district.

The PF Lusaka Province chairperson said this during a door-to-door campaign meant to drum up support for Kafue constituency parliamentary candidate Joseph Kamanga, Council Chairperson Moono Simakaloyi and all the ward councilors in the constituency.

“NCZ has made profits of about K32 million and together with the K 600 million which was injected in the company will help the company start producing fertilizer to full capacity and this we are not lying.

“So now through our councilors, Mayor and MP now need to make sure that our children here are employed. There’s give priority to the locals here. This will also that our young people just loitering and drinking in bars will now have jobs,” Mr Kamba said.

And Mr Kamba has noted that the overwhelming response from his party’s door to door campaigns was a good indicator ahead of the general election.
