ZAMBIA’S national boxing team coach Kennedy Kanyanta has promised that the three boxers competing at the Tokyo Olympic Games will return.
The boxing team comprises Flyweight Patrick Chinyemba, Featherweight Everisto Mulenga and Middleweight Steven Zimba
Kanyanta said in an interview that the boxers who he said were 80 percent ready, would be 100 percent ready before the games officially kick off.
He said everything was put in place to ensure that the boxers can come back home with some medals.
“According to the way the boxer’s performed in Botswana I can say they are 80 percent ready for the Olympic Games and by next week the boxers will be 100 ready for the games
“We have done everything required for the boxers to compete in Japan. We experienced no challenges and all logistics were put in place for the boxers to go and compete,” Kanyanta said.
And Chinyemba said the boxers are not under pressure heading to the Olympics where they will face the best boxers in the world.
Chinyemba said the boxers were determined to win medals in Japan as they are ready to face any boxers in their categories.
The boxers are part of the 30 athletes representing Zambia in different categories at the games in Japan.
The Tokyo Olympics are scheduled to officially kick off on July 24 and will run up to August 8.
