CONGRATULATIONS TO BARBRA BANDA FOR ANOTHER HAT TRICK

Dear Editor,

ZAMBIA’S national soccer team fondly known as the Copper Queens were last Wednesday beaten 10-3 by Netherlands, at the ongoing Olympic Games in Japan.

The Copper Queens are Africa’s envoys at the Olympic Games currently taking place in Japan. The opening match was played at Miyagi Stadium. Barbara was the heroine of the day for the Copper Queens as she netted a hat trick for the Zambian outfit despite losing the opener.

Barbra became the first African female player to score a hat trick at the Olympic Games in history. This is not a mean achievement as she has raised the Zambian flag high. This is the way to go.

As though that was not good enough, Barbra scored another hat trick in the second match against China last Saturday which ended 4-4. The Copper Queens have one point from the two games played so far.

As soccer fans, let us give unwavering support to our national soccer team competing at the Olympic Games in Japan.

Go girls go and conquer. You can achieve through discipline, focus and team work.

ELEMIYA PHIRI,

Lusaka.
