KITWE HINDU SOCIETY JOINS COVID-19 FIGHT

By ROGERS KALERO

THE Kitwe Hindu Society working with the business sector has donated assorted items worth K370, 000 to Kitwe Teaching Hospital (KTH) and Kamfinsa Correctional Facility.

The items which included blankets, mattresses, oxygen cylinders, knapsack sprayers and disinfectants would also benefit Kitwe District Health Management Board and the Kitwe City Council.

Kitwe District Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KDCCI) President Anthony Kabaghe said the Kitwe District Covid-19 response team had decided to work with the Kitwe Hindu Society to donate various items to fight the pandemic

Mr Kabaghe said the Kitwe district Covid-19 response team with its partners was making a donation for the third time because it believed that the pandemic needed to be fought with concerted efforts

He said his team had always enjoyed a good relationship with the District Commissioner Mr Chileshe Bweupe in the fight against Covid-19

“As a business community, we have continued to enjoy a good relationship with the District Commissioner hence our tireless efforts to supplement government’s efforts in fighting the pandemic,” Mr Kabaghe said

And Mr Bweupe said inmates also needed to have access to Covid 19 vaccines as a healthy and safety measure to protect them from the raging pandemic.

He said Government would ensure that inmates at Kamfinsa Correctional Facility had access to Covid-19 vaccines.

He was grateful that the Kitwe Hindu Society in collaboration with the business community had continued to supplement Government’s efforts through various donations.

“As we receive these items donated by the Kitwe Hindu Society in collaboration with the business community, let us ensure that we intensify our compliance to the guidelines of Covid-19. This disease is deadly as we can see from its effects on both human beings and the world economy.

“Let me take this opportunity to state that Inmates at Kamfinsa Correctional Facility also want to have access to Covid-19 Vaccines.  As a government, we will ensure that we make the vaccines accessible to the inmates. This is in line with the PF government policy of not leaving any one behind,” Mr Bweupe said
