BANDITS SNATCH K200, 000 FROM PRIEST

BANDITS have gone away with about K200, 000 cash belong to St Mark Catholic Church in Kalumbila.
The money which belongs to the parish was stolen from the cleric’s car, a Toyota Fortuner registration number ATB 4980 white in colour.
North-Western Province Commissioner of Police, Joe Njase, said the incident happened on Thursday around 14:00 at Koza lodge where Father John Park had gone for lunch.
Fr Park aged 45 reported the matter to Solwezi Central Police immediately after the incident.
Mr Njase explained that Fr Park withdrew the money from Absa Bank and drove to Koza lodge to have lunch.
“When he came back, he discovered that the front passenger door was smashed and all the money stolen,” he explained.
In another incident, callboys at Solwezi main bus station have stolen about 120 cases of Fruitcana drinks belonging to the Electoral Commission of Zambia valued at K100, 800.
Mr Njase said the incident happened on Thursday between around 11:00 hours and was reported by Mr Antony Mazhama, aged 40 of Zambia compound. He said this was after one callboy shouted that, ‘this is government property.’
“Police quickly intervened and so far 70 cases valued at K6, 300 have been recovered and 10 suspects have been arrested,” Mr Njase said.
