HAKAINDE’S SILENCE OVER UPND VIOLENCE IS TOO LOUD TO IGNORE

Dear Editor,

We wish to begin by commending President Edgar Lungu for allowing the deployment of the men and women from the Defence Forces to help end political violence.

We believe that the strategic move of allowing the military to work with officers from the Zambia Police Service will help restore public order, protect lives and safeguard public property.

We are however concerned that the chief architect of political violence, Mr Hakainde Hichilema in his usual nonchalant manner has elected to remain mute on the many incidents of violence involving his cadres.

The gruesome murder of two Patriotic Front members in Lusaka’s Kanyama Township has failed to move Mr Hichilema to issue a statement condemning the loss of the two lives. This is a man who is quick to talk about a false story about my house but he cannot issue a statement even after innocent lives were lost.

In the final analysis, it is very easy to see that the violence that has engulfed the country is heavily financed by Mr Hichilema because some of the violence has erupted in his presence and he hasn’t flinched.

Mr Hichilema does not care even if people lose lives as long as it helps him get to State House. For him, this is about stroking his inflated ego and he is ready to sacrifice innocent lives to become President.

It should be stated that the blood of those two gentlemen is dripping right from Mr Hichilema’s hands and he will one day pay heavily for these crimes.

BOWMAN CHILOSHA LUSAMBO.
