PATRIOTIC Front (PF) officials ditching the party after an election loss are suspects of shade dealings and are now planning to hide from the long arm of the law, says Raphael Nakacinda. Mr Nakachinda said the defectors were not only traitors, but sell-outs, who had robbed the country millions of kwacha. He said such people were defecting to the UPND for protection.
And Mr Nakacinda said it was unfortunate that former republican president Edgar Lungu trusted wrong people who betrayed him. In an interview, Mr Nakacinda who former Minister of Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection, said those that were quick to ditch PF for UPND were bad elements that contributed to the loss of the former ruling party.
He said such people were defecting to the UPND for protection. And Mr Nakacinda said it was unfortunate that former republican president Edgar Lungu trusted wrong people who betrayed him. He said such elements must be investigated by the ruling UPND before accepting them because the era of political prostitution ended a long time ago. Mr Nakacinda wondered why a genuine PF official could ditch the party for UPND whose ideology they condemned not too long ago. He said it was common sense that some officials ditching the former ruling party after President Hakainde Hichilema declared that those who stole would be investigated by law enforcement agencies were guilty.
“Those who are afraid of their wrong doings are those joining UPND to seek refuge because those with a clean conscious have nothing to fear to remain in PF. “Anyone defecting should be declares as suspect, and must be investigated before joining the UPND. In fact, they are not only traitors but sellouts,” Mr Nakacinda said. He added, “and those that are quick to move were bad elements that contributed to the loss of PF. Because if they were committed to the cause, why is it that they are so quick to defect just after UPND was declared a winner? Those political prostitutes are no place in the modern politics any more”. Mr Nacikacinda said president Lungu was one of the finest men and people took advantage of his good heart to betrayed him.
