WE’VE DELIVERED AID TO BOARDING SCHOOLS, SAYS DMMU

By ADRIAN MWANZA

SOME schools in Northern Province have not received aid from Government due to administrative hitches in institutions, says Disaster Management Mitigation Union (DMMU), National Coordinator Chanda Kabwe.

Mr Kabwe admitted that some schools had not received but that it was not their problem.

He said the DMMU had delivered relief aid to all the 10 provinces but that he was aware that some schools did not receive the relief aid.

He said unlike the assertions that all boarding schools countrywide did not receive aid as promised, his office had delivered face masks and food.

Mr Kabwe said that he was surprised that people were peddling lies about the DMMU failing to deliver on the relief food.

“The only province that has challenges is Northern Province which faced administrative challenges but we are going to deal with them as soon as possible so that schools are not interrupted,” he said.

He said that the DMMU had also given money to the provincial offices to ensure that they conducted the processes adequately.

Mr Kabwe said that DMMU did not consider private schools but only those that were affiliated to the government.

“I want to challenge any school to come forward and confirm that they have not received the aid because we did that a week before schools opened,” he said.

Mr Kabwe however said that he could not quantify the value of of the aid but that the most important thing was that they had managed.
