‘THUGGERY WON’T BE TOLERATED IN UPND’

By SANFROSSA MANYINDA

THE United Party for National Development (UPND) leadership on the Copperbelt will not shield any party member who will be found breaking the law.

UPND Kitwe Chairman Elvis Nkandu said the party would not tolerate thuggery as youth leaders had the mandate to serve the Zambian people and restore human dignity.

Mr Nkandu said human dignity was not something to take for granted.

He said it was the duty of every youth to remain humble and respect members of the general public.

“Youth leaders should help to restore the rule of law by consistently advising their followers to be good citizens in society.

“Lack of respect to members of the general public as well as private institutions, and thuggery behavior by PF cadres greatly contributed to the exit of the former ruling party that is why we do not want to tolerate,” he said.

Mr Nkandu said the party leadership would soon be working on the implementation of the social contract which President Hakainde Hichilema appended his signature on while in opposition after learning how progressive the document was and what it meant for Zambian youths.

He added that the party leadership was fully aware of the sacrifices youths made for the party to be where it is today.

He said others even lost their jobs and employment opportunities by being UPND members and spent much of their time working to ensure this was achieved.
