HH speech inspirational – Katuka

ZAMBIANS should expect the best from the United Party for National Development government, party national chairperson Stephen Katuka has said.

Reacting to the President’s speech during the opening of parliament, MrKatuka said that the President’s speech was inspiring and gives hope.

He said that the pronouncement to restore strict adherence to the rule of law and upholding of human rights is a welcome move.

Mr Katuka challenged the ministers who have been appointed to serve in different portfolios to be equal to the task and ensure that they implement effective policies.

He said that Mr Hichilema is a strict person adding that what he has announced he will ensure that he monitors ministers to ensure that they implement them.

“I can tell you that the President is a strict person. He will make sure that he monitors the ministers, “  he said.

He also commended the President for announcing that he will implement electoral reforms.

Mr Katuka said that the move will strengthen the independence of the Electoral Commission of Zambia.

In his speech during the opening of parliament, Mr Hichilema has stated that his administration will enhance access to justice, ensure strict adherence to the rule of law and upholding of human rights. He said that the government will safeguard the rights of people and protect private property.

“To this effect, we will strengthen and modernize our institutions of governance to guarantee security, fundamental human rights, civil liberties and quick dispensation of justice.

“The separation of powers among the three arms of government is essential to the upholding of the constitution and the rule of law, “ he stated.
