‘IT’S A MOCKERY FOR HH TO SIDELINE YOUTHS’

By AARON CHIYANZO
IT is a mockery on youths to sideline them when appointing Cabinet after being used to ascend to power, a political activist Lemmy Bwalya has said

Mr Bwalya said having looked at the number of youths in the UPND cabinet and that of the former ruling Patriotic Front, it was clear that youths were considered less importance in governance.

He said in an interview that this should be an eye opener for youths to fight hard and book their positions, instead of being used and dumped after an election.
Mr Bwalya said youths should be firm enough in claiming what belonged to them and refuse to be termed as future leaders, when they were capable of leading.

“It’s high time that politicians begin to respect youths for the support that they give to political parties,” he said.
Mr Bwalya appealed to President Hakainde Hichilema to consider appointing more youths as permanent secretaries, directors and district commissioners.

He also appealed to PF President Edgar Lungu to appoint youths in strategic positions of the party.
“We need to see youths becoming party presidents or vice presidents. Youths should hold positions like that of the party’s secretary general among others,” Mr Bwalya said.
