WE’RE COMMITTED TO FISCAL DISCIPLINE, SAYS MUSOKOTWANE

By NATION REPORTER

GOVERNMENT says it will ensure proper utilisation of donor finances through adherence to the high standards of resource utilisation set in various agreements and the public finance regulations.

Finance Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane said the “new dawn” administration of President Hakainde Hichilema was determined to stabilise the macro-economic situation and curb the old habits of excessive borrowing.

Dr Musokotwane said this during the EU-Zambia bilateral meeting held at the Ministry of Finance Headquarter in Lusaka yesterday.

He appealed for EU support in ventures involving the youth and small and medium scale enterprises.

“Government is committed to proper utilisation of donor finances,” Dr Musokotwane stressed.

And EU Ambassador to Zambia Jancek Jankowski said the bloc is ready to continue supporting Zambia’s development agenda.

He said the EU was ready to work with the Zambian government in supporting private sector and youth enterprise initiatives.
