FISH FARMING NEEDS STIFF COMPETITION – DC

GOVERNMENT has called for stiffer competition among players in the fish farming industry in order to improve quality and attract more investment in the aquaculture sector on Lake Kariba in Siavonga District.

Siavonga District Commissioner, Lovemore Kanyama has urged both  local and foreign investors to take advantage of the favourable investment environment in the country by investing in the fish farming industry.

He said already the district had attracted a number of foreign and local investors who have invested in the district and was hopeful that more companies will come on board to tap into the abundant fish resources on the man- made lake.

Kanyama further said the setting up of two big Fish feed manufacturing factories in the area will boast the fish production not only in Siavonga but also in the entire southern African region.

He saluted Republican President Edger Lungu and the PF Government for creating  favourable investment and trade environment in Siavonga district and Southern Province at large.

“The District is recording a lot of investments which has resulted in many residents being employed in the fish farming industry. My office will see to it that foreign and local investors and their investments in the district is protected from bad elements,” he said.
