Speaking when he featured on Millennium TV’s Millennium Tonight programme, Mr Mulenga said   Government’s agenda to promote small businesses is reflected in the current revision of the school curriculum were promotion of entrepreneurship is at the core.

He said the new dawn administration had changed the narrative of only foreigners occupying Multi-Facility Economic Zones (MFEZ), which Zambians were now able to occupy.

“We have introduced what we are calling as market booster loans, giving financial empowerment to our parents in a structured way through the first-ever Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises Development. Giving you K1 or K2 today because you are cheering me, it will not help you.

“Take it to the people who have made a bold decision to say we want to be entrepreneurs, support them to buy more boxes of tomato, more bags of cabbage, more Kapenta or beans so that they can sell and build their economies,” Mr Mulenga said.

He said Government was cognizant of the fact that entrepreneurship was key to unlocking Zambia’s economic potential.

Mr Mulenga also expressed happiness that the majority of those that had accessed market booster loans were new

“We have spoken about value addition as key to the value of our minerals into something that tangible because for years since time immemorial, our government has externalised jobs, resources, industries among many other things we have sent away by mining the copper, the same gold now there are scandals and other minerals and sent them as raw materials,” Mr Mulenga said

He said President Hakainde Hichilema had made it clear that the export of raw materials should come to an end in the next few years by promoting local value addition to minerals.

Mr Mulenga also stated that Government was committed to addressing the high cost of living affecting the majority Zambians.
