KALUMBILA DC DONATES MATTRESSES

By JACKSON MAPAPAYI
KALUMBILA District Commissioner, Robinson Kalota, has donated 100 mattresses to Mutanda Secondary School.
Presenting the donation, Mr Kalota said he was compelled to make the donation as a way of supplementing Government’s efforts.
He said that owing to health guidelines on Covid-19 on social distance, he made the donation to the school in order to protect the future leaders from the spread of the pandemic.
This, he said, would enable the pupils to have adequate sleeping space as opposed to sharing mattresses.
“I was compelled to donate to the school because I want this school to produce engineers, doctors and a president in future,” he said.
Mr Kalota urged the pupils to guard the mattresses jealously as they had come at a high cost.
He said Government was working hard in ensuring that every pupil could meet the minimum education standard.
Mr Kalota urged school management to help the learners to safeguard the properties so that others could also benefit.
Receiving the donation, Head-teacher, Richard Bombwe, said the donation would go a long way in ensuring that pupils study well and sleep comfortably.
And speaking for the pupils, Patricia Mwewa commended Mr Kalota for the gesture.
Meanwhile, PTA chairperson Makiko thanked Mr Kalota for the timely gesture saying it would provide enough bed space for the pupils
