STATE HOUSE COUNSELS MUKUNI TO STOP FALSEHOODS

…consult before commenting

By OLIVER SAMBOKO

SENIOR Chief Mukuni of the Toka Leya should always get facts before commenting on serious matters, Special Assistant to the President for press and public relations, Isaac Chipampe has said.

And Mr Chipampe dispelled claims that President Edgar Lungu announced intentions to stay in power beyond 2026.

He said President Lungu was a democrat who respected the law and would not go against the provisions of the constitution.

Mr Chipampe said this during an interview on Hot FM yesterday.

He said it was regrettable that Senior Chief Mukuni went ahead to attack the Head of State before consulting on the allegations.

“I refute the story carried by the News Diggers alleging that President Edgar Lungu intends to be in office up to 2031,” he said.

Mr Chipampe also said President Lungu was confident of scooping this year’s Presidential elections.

He however said the President’s focus for now was to finish his term and if elected for another term to continue with his agenda of developing the country.

Mr Chipampe noted with concern that the Diggers newspaper was trying to brand the President as a person who does not believe in democracy.

He said President Lungu was not going to be detracted by falsehoods but continue to focus on developing the nation.
