SADC truck drives bemoan dirty parks, dry ports

By NATION REPORTER

THE Southern African Development Community (SADC) Truck Drivers Association says the continued insufficient and unclean truck parks and dry ports may contribute to a cholera outbreak among truck drivers

In an interview with Millennium tv the association’s president Mr Eugene Ndhlovu  says  some truck parks have one  pit latrine that are serving up to 200 truck drivers each day, a situation he believes could lead to a diarrhoea outbreak.

He has called on the government to find possible measures implement the national transport policy by establishing suitable and well-equipped truck parks and dry port to curb   the rising issues of cholera

He adds that issues of toilets and showers must be maintained to meet the ever rising number of truckers   to make sure that cholera does not strike
