MULENGA SNAGS TOP AWARD

 ZANACO winger Augustine Mulenga was last night crowned the 2017 MTN-FAZ Player of the Year and pocketed K25, 000 while Nkana football club head coach Beston Chambeshi scooped Coach of the  Year award  after guiding the Busakile side to a third finish with 71 points.

Mulenga who was influential in Zanaco winning its maiden Barclays Cup title this year and CAF Champions League qualification,  beat finalists striker  Chris Mugalu and teammate goalkeeper Toaster Nsabata at the Awards Gala hosted at Moba hotel in Kitwe on Friday night.

Mulenga who scored a brace in Zanaco’s final league fixture ended the league with seven goals.

The Lusaka Dynamos Mugalu did not walk away empty handed as he grabbed the golden boot award with his 20 goals scored during the 2017 Soccer season.

Chambeshi beat last year’s winner Zanaco mentor Mumamba Numba and Green Buffaloes head coach Bilton Musonda who guided the Amy sponsored side to qualify for the CAF confederations cup tournament after coming out fourth in the super division.

Kabwe Youth Academy proprietor Evans Mutangama who was put to rest last Wednesday was awarded posthumously, the presidential Award by FAZ president Andrew Kamanga.

Nkwazi hitman Lameck Banda won the Young player of the year award beating rivals Edward Tembo from City of Lusaka and Mufulira Wanderers’ Chris Sakulanda. 

The Referee of the Year award went to Janny Sikazwe who was contesting the award with Wisdom Chewe and female referee Gladys Lengwe. 

 Zanaco’s skipper Ziyo Tembo was voted most  disciplined and eclipsed Nkana’s Ronald “Sate Sate” Kampamba and Zesco’s  Kondwani Mtonga for the award.
