THE Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) suffered a K346, 308 loss in gate-takings from the Africa Cup of Nations (AfCON) qualifier against Mozambique at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.

FAZ vice-president Rix Mweemba said only K350,750 was raised from the sale of tickets due to the poor turnout.

“We recorded a poor turnout, less than 600 supporters trooped to the stadium. We recorded a K350,750 profit while the expenditure was K678,058 and a deficit of K346,308,” he said.

He was disappointed by the turnout from soccer fans, saying the Chipolopolo needed the 12th player to perform well.

He called on the fans to turn up in large numbers to support both the players and FAZ.

Fans shunned the match played last Saturday following the senior team’s string of poor results.

Zambia lost 1-0 to Mozambique in a game described by national team coach Wedson Nyirenda as the most disappointing performance from the Chipolopolo
