STOP SELF-PRAISE, NEW DAWN GOVERNMENT TOLD

By JOHN KOMBE

THE New Dawn government should tone down on self-praise because everything they had promised was still mere rhetoric, former minister of defence, George Mpombo has advised.

Dr. Mpombo has also warned that the UPND will be haunted by the non fulfilment of promises.

In an interview, Dr. Mpombo said that the UPND government was over-praising itself with empty rhetoric that was not being actioned. He insisted that the government had not scored any positives to begin praising themselves at every public fora.

According to Dr. Mpombo, the UPND were not clear about the roadmap to fulfilling any of their campaign promises such as free education and selling the Presidential jet. He therefore advised the government to get to work and avoid creating false hopes in the people.

He said that the government was not even clear about how and when they would start implementing any of these and other promises.

Dr. Mpombo charged that even the UPND promise of inclusivity in appointments was not being adhered to.

“They promised to be inclusive and meritorious in appointments, but the opposite is the case. Key appointments in government and cabinet have gone to one region or close associates. These appointments are lopsided and the UPND cannot brag when they were going against their own promises,” he said.

He also wondered why the UPND were now bragging about a good budget which will be funded by already mobilised resources.
