SENIOR Chief Mukuni of the Toka-Leya is now a danger to the nation as his desperation to usher UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema into State House risks plunging the country into a state of pandemonium, Bishops Council of Zambia (BCZ) secretary-general Reverend Able Kaela has warned.

Rev Kaela observed that Senior Chief Mukuni was too desperate to see Mr Hichilema in State House that he even turned his weekend traditional ceremony into a political rally.

He said it was so shameful for a traditional leader to stoop so low, to the extent of worshiping a politician when he was supposed to be the father of the nation.

Rev Kaela wondered why Senior Chief Mukuni was so desperate to see Mr Hichilema at the helm of the nation and what he stood to gain.

He was very shocked at how a senior chief, could abandon traditional values in an effort to grant the UPND leader a platform to campaign.

Rev Kaela reiterated that traditional ceremonies were supposed to be respected but were now losing value because of traditional leaders with hidden agendas.

“It is shameful what the traditional leader did, how can he turn a traditional ceremony into a political rally? What kind of desperation is this where a senior chief for that matter can deliberately abandon traditional norms, values and what has been kept sacred?” he questioned.

Rev Kaela questioned what hidden agenda Senior Chief Mukuni had, as he was alive to the fact that politicising traditional ceremonies only brought about problems.

He charged that the traditional leader was now a danger to the nation as his appetite to usher Mr Hichilema into State House risked plunging the country in chaos.

Rev Kaela pointed out that there were still people who were not happy with efforts being made to ensure peace and tranquility in the country.

He called on traditional leaders bent on funning chaos in the country to tone down as they were the custodians on national peace.
