‘Politicians have divided country’

By ANDREW MUKOMA

POLITICIANS have divided the country through tribalism but the Church has a huge role to play in putting a stop to this, says Katombora Member of Parliament, Clement Andeleki.

Dr Andeleki has said the Church has a huge role to play in promoting unity and love among citizens.

He was speaking during a fund raising service for the United Church of Zambia (UCZ) Kazungula congregation yesterday.

Dr Andeleki said the Church must do more in bringing Zambians together and looking after the widows.

He added that lack of political leadership is what has led to high poverty levels in the country.

“I beseech the church to pray for the government.

The church must pray against hatred because politicians have divided this country. Let us promote love and unity not only in Zambia but Africa as a whole,” he said.

“United Church of Zambia has done a lot for the country. Let the Church continue partnering with the government to build a united Zambia,” Dr Andeleki said.

He said the Church must not go to sleep just like what the disciples in the Bible did.

Dr Andeleki also called on the Church to pray for peace in Ukraine saying that there has been a lot of loss of life and destruction of infrastructure through the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

Meanwhile, Dr Andeleki contributed K15, 000 towards the building of the Kazungula UCZ congregation.

He said the Church is one of the priority partners his office has in developing the constituency.

And in his sermon, Reverend Harrison Phiri bemoaned the high levels of moral decay in the country.

Rev Phiri said that it is the role of the Church to ensure that this situation is controlled.
