THE Chipolopolo team wrapped up their Morocco African Nations Championship (CHAN) preparations on a victorious note beating South African side Orlando Pirates 3-1 in a closed practice match at Rand Stadium in Johannesburg yesterday.

Lazarous Kambole opened the scoring in 13th minute of play but Mpho Makola cancelled Zambia’s lead in 22nd minute.

Zambia dominated the second half and doubled the scores in 47th minute through defender Fackson Kapumbu before striker Alex Ng’onga sealed off the win in 85th minute.

Augustin Mulenga and Enerst Mbewe commanded the flanks well while Kondwani Mtonga and Jack Chirwa controlled the midfield.

It was a usual Wedson Nyirenda starting backline of Ziyo Tembo, Adrian Chama, Kapumbu and Simon Silwimba.

Zambia who are in Group with Uganda, Ivory Coast and Namibia were scheduled to leave for Morocco last evening.

Coach Nyirenda before departure said the team was ready for a good performance at CHAN.

He said the team was mentally and physically ready to win the championship.

“The discipline and focus is impressive, the boys are set to achieve the set goal,” he said.

Zambia faces Uganda in their opening match this Sunday in Marrakech.

Meanwhile, Uganda wounded up their preparations on a low note losing 1-0 to Congo in Rabat, three days after they drew 1-1 against Guniea in another warm-up at the same venue.
