UPND fertiliser propaganda exposed

THE UPND has recruited scores of operatives in Eastern Province to apparently cheat illiterate farmers, especially women that the price of fertiliser and other farming inputs will only reduce when they vote for its leader, Mr Hakainde Hichilema.
They are even teaching women on how to mark the ballot paper in favour of the opposition, but Patriotic Front (PF) provincial secretary Joseph Kolosa said the operatives would not succeed.
Mr Kolosa said the party would not allow cheap propaganda schemes from UPND as they will go flat out to counteract their lies and thwart the operatives.
The propaganda exercise is allegedly being spearheaded by former a known former Member of Parliament.
A reliable source within the UPND told the Daily Nation that hundreds of people had been hired to lie to the electorate that once Mr Hichilema forms Government on August 12, he would immediately lower the price for the 50-kg bag of fertiliser from K800 to K250.
“Several people have been recruited to go round Eastern Province and lie to uneducated farmers that they should vote for Hakainde Hichilema if they want the price of fertiliser to be lowered from K800 to K250 for a 50-kg bag.
“This propaganda spearheaded by the former MP is targeting illiterate people in the region,” the source said.
But Mr Kolosa said a hired former parliamentarian had no stamina to dislodge PF in the province.
He said no amount of lies would help the rejected UPND in the region because people were appreciating development.
Mr Kolosa said the PF was on the ground explaining what President Edgar Lungu has done and what he intends to do in the next five years.
“The people of Eastern Province are not dull that they can listen to UPND lies. We are not bothered that UPND has decided to engage her in propagating lies because people are able to see development. In fact, she has no stamina to dislodge PF in Eastern Province,” Mr Kolosa said.
