Yes, we besieged Divine Mercy Catholic Church – Police

THE Zambia Police have confirmed surrounding the Divine Mercy Catholic Church in Ndola on Sunday in a bid to flush out former President Edgar Lungu and claiming having been at the precincts of the church claiming that they were merely “observing the movement of the people.”

But former President Lungu and other United Kwacha Alliance (UKA) leaders such as Harry Kalaba, the president of Citizens First, and Apostle Dan Pule, the leader of the Christian Democratic Party all confirmed the heavy presence of State Police and UPND cadres on the Copperbelt.

Rae Hamoonga, Police Public Relations Officer stated that at no point the police ‘storm’ the Church as was reported in some sections of the media.
