Politically exposed responsible for illicit financial flows – Kampyongo

By NATION REPORTER

UNIVERSITY of Zambia (UNZA) lectures have vowed that the higher learning institution shall not open for the second semester if government does not clear the K1.5 billion debt owed to them in gratuities.

University of Zambia Lecturers and Research Union (UNZALARU) president Andrew Phiri said the lecturers would not attend to the students if government does not pay them their benefits in full.

Mr Phiri said nine by-elections were loading because Speaker of the National Assembly has declared the seats of opposition parliamentarians vacant and government was moving to find money for the by-elections instead of saving such huge amount to priority areas such as settling debts owed to lectures as well as channel the money to other sectors of the economy.
