By BARNABAS ZULU

PREPARATIONS for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers are in full swing, with Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) President Andrew Kamanga ensuring that the Chipolopolo will receive top-notch preparations.

The Chipolopolo is set to face Ivory Coast and Sierra Leone in back-to-back qualifiers in September.

In his weekly corner, Monday, Kamanga urged the public to support the team as they aim to secure their place in Africa’s premier football competition.

“Finally, preparations for our back-to-back Morocco 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Ivory Coast in Bouake and Sierra Leone in Ndola are in motion. As we have always done, we will make sure that Chipolopolo are afforded quality preparations to give us a head start in the September round of qualifiers.

We call upon the public to support our lads as they seek to sustain their presence at Africa’s top tier competition, “ he said.

Meanwhile, Kamanga emphasized the importance of preserving the legacy of Zambia’s football heroes and announced plans to establish a football museum.

“This initiative, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, aims to commemorate key moments in Zambian football history, such as the 1993 Gabon disaster and the 2012 AFCON victory,” he said.

Additionally, Kamanga expressed delight with the national selection exercise which concluded with a match between top talents from the Midlands and Copperbelt regions, overseen by some of the nation’s best football minds,” he said.

While public expectations are high, Kamanga said that this exercise is part of a long-term strategy to nurture emerging talent, rather than a quick solution to the team’s challenges.
