FRED M’membe, the Socialist Party (SP) leader was yesterday released from Twin Palm police station and defiantly declared that the continued arrests and detention of opposition leaders was an act of little frightened men scared of their own shadows because of the many crimes they have committed.
“What we are seeing is an action of little frightened me are scared of their own shadows because the many crimes they have committed, Dr M’membe said soon after he was released on bond after spending four days in police cells.
Dr. Fred M’membe said the UPND promised a lot things that they could do such as the promise of police bond for bondable offences that they were failing to implement.
He said the things that the UPND were doing using the state police to oppress the opposition would not take them anywhere as Zambians were already resolved to change government in 2026.
Dr. M’membe was arrested last week on Thursdays and was charged with seditious practice contrary to Section 57(I)(C) as read with Section 60(I)(B) of the Penal Code Act, Chapter 87 of the Laws of Zambia.
He spent four days in police custody without being given police bond.
